- A moderate amount of walking is involved, so please wear comfortable shoes.
- Important: Possible long queues due to mandatory security checks at Saint Peter’s Basilica.
Security check with metal detector required at the Vatican Museums; expect possible wait times.
This is a list of prohibited items inside the Vatican Museums. It includes:
a) food and beverages of any kind;
b) luggage, bags, packages, and containers that exceed the dimensions of 40 x 35 x 15 cm;
c) backpacks, with the possible exception of small ones that can be worn on the shoulders and do not protrude more than 15 cm from the body’s silhouette at the maximum point;
d) pointed umbrellas or those of medium and large sizes, sticks (when not used to facilitate mobility), tripods for cameras and camcorders, signs and signs of any kind;
e) knives, scissors, and/or metallic tools of various kinds that could pose a danger to people and/or the exhibited works inside the Basilica;
f) power banks and any object that, at the indisputable discretion of the Custody Corps, may pose a danger to the integrity and safety of the Basilica’ premises.No pets allowed.
The St.Peter Administration may close the Basilica or parts of it at any time, with or without notice, due to events, strikes, or any other reasons.
If you arrive late at the meeting point, you might miss the entrance. No-shows/late arrivals will not be refunded.
